Not hearing the sound you expected? Just send the record back. We will return your money.
Better Records proudly offers records that no one else can — one-of-a-kind vintage pressings with sound quality verified through the shootout process.
Hot Stamper shootouts, carried out under rigorously controlled conditions, are the only scientifcally valid way to insure that the sound quality of a specific pressing will be superior to others. This being the case, it’s only natural that we’re the only record dealers who can offer such a guarantee.
Without having done a proper shootout, the best a self-described expert can offer is an informed opinion about the sound quality of a given pressing. (And to be honest, what passes as “informed” is rarely more than an appeal to consensus views.)
Without a blinded test, there is little real evidence to support these opinions, informed or otherwise.
How About the Music?
In addition, most of the albums we sell contain music that has stood the test of time. If they didn’t, how could we get so many hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars for them?
As far as collecting goes, our advice is simple: buy as few or as many as you like. Keep only the records you think are priced fairly, based on how important the upgrade in sound quality is to you, on your system and nobody else’s.
If you buy a record and don’t hear the improvement in sound you expected, send it back. If you don’t like the music, send it back. If the vinyl is not quiet enough, send it back.
In other words, if you are not satisfied with the record we sold you for any reason, send it back.
Resale Value
Whatever you pay for our record, know that its resale value is typically a small fraction of the price charged. Most of the time there is nothing special about the records we offer — other than their superior fidelity, a quality that cannot be seen by the naked eye.
When you receive a record from us, we ask only that you play it and determine if the sound and music are worth what you paid for them. If for some reason you don’t find the value in the record, just send it back. You have plenty of time to do that, up to 30 days. If you need more than thirty days, just let us know.
If lots of customers returned our records, our business would struggle to survive. Instead we’re doing just fine, thank you very much.
Do My Customers Like Me?
You may have seen me say in a video (linked below) something to the effect that “my customers like me.”
That’s not technically true. I don’t know that they do. They may or they may not. We know some customers that do and we read on forums that some (typically erstwhile) customers do not.
Many of them seem to really like our Hot Stamper pressings though, and that’s what our service is all about. Better records make for happier customers.
